With the number of times we have heard that the PDD South Board members are "agents of the crown" (Thank goodness for LACL that is an agent of the people) and that prevents them from doing anything unique to the south region of the province that might not be applied elsewhere and they must represent the intent of the Minister of Seniors and Community Supports. They stand behind the new and more restrictive eligibility criteria for citizens with developmental disabilities qualifying for PDD funded supports because it is one of the Minister's priority actions. Now all people currently receiving PDD services must be assessed by government workers to determine the supports they may have. Service providers have been the ones determining services in the past...I wonder how they feel about being told they cannot be trusted to do so...but now government will be collecting information on the most intimate and private details of people's lives. PDD South has decided that they will not be calling this an assessment but merely a "conversation" even though the Minister (the one that PDD South Board is agent of) uses the word assessment in her priority actions. Anyone up for a "conversation" with a government worker who will use your words to decide what PDD funded supports you or your family member may or may not be entitled to?
