What issues are involved in transition from child to adult supports and services?

 

While this is a time of delicate transition for your child, the most important thing to understand is that there are opportunities for individuals to live a rich and fulfilling life.We will explore with you:

  • where to live
  • funding
  • supports

We can assist you with appeals and help you work with Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) to find the best route for your child to have a good and rewarding life.

Persons with Developmental Disabilities South Alberta Community Board

  • PDD has funding for residential, employment, and community access and agencies which provide these
  • We have information about family-managed and self-managed supports through PDD for these areas

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)

  • Includes financial assistance, health benefits and other assistance
  • We can help people overcome or avoid bumps & difficulties in negotiating the bureaucracy

Alberta Aids to Daily Living

  • Helps with the physical supports necessary for independent living
  • We can help inform and advise and advocate if necessary
